Sulmara is pleased to announce that, after six months of intense work, we have recently achieved independent verification of Carbon Neutrality in accordance with the BSI PAS 2060:2014 standard.
Navigating this new world of carbon neutrality is not always clear, but we believe in transparency. Achieving independent verification of our carbon neutrality demonstrates our commitment to this, and we can confidently stand behind our statements, actions, and numbers.” Gail Morrison, Head of QHSE.
PAS 2060:2014 is the standard that independently verifies Sulmara’s statement on carbon neutrality, carbon management measures, and offsetting activities. It is the only internationally recognised, accepted, and respected standard for carbon neutrality, which has now been superseded by the ISO 14068 standard—Climate Change Management Part 1 Carbon Neutrality. This new standard provides the framework to help organisations on their carbon neutrality journeys ensure statements are correct, carbon neutrality management plans are in place, and offsetting activities are from credible and verified sources.
We have taken the first steps on a journey that we are committed to for the long term. It starts with our UK operations, for which we have just received the Verification Opinion Statement from BSI, which confirms that emissions from our 2022 UK operations have been verified as carbon neutral. Our next step is to tackle our international operations - which we hope to achieve by the end of the year. It takes focus and determination, and we believe it is worth the effort to demonstrate our commitment and hold ourselves accountable.
Carbon management and maintaining carbon neutrality are at the forefront of our operations and the heart of our environmental core values. Our ongoing journey will see us strengthen our knowledge, processes, and systems to ensure we manage our global environmental impact sustainably.
